Mitsumi KPQ Type is a Mitsumi hybrid switch type; the linear equivalent is Mitsumi KPR Type. KPQ Type also covers stock keyboards and full custom OEM products made with these switches.

Description[edit | edit source]

KPQ Type keyboards use a conductive rubber foot to bridge traces on a single membrane sheet. A buckling rubber sleeve is placed under the keycap to provide tactility and return the key.

Where an integrated LED is required, the switch in question will be linear: the rubber sleeve would obstruct the LED. This can be seen in the Commodore Amiga 2000 keyboard, although that is KKQ Type.

Alternate action is provided by the Mitsumi membrane lock semi-discrete switch module.

Some equipment including the Commodore Amiga 2000 and Commodore CDTV use Mitsumi KKQ Type, which is visibly identical from above, but internally uses a PCB instead of a membrane sheet.
