The company formerly known as Sasse KG or Dr. Eugen Sasse GmbH originally concentrated on switches and keypads for the telecommunication industry. Presumably around 1980, they started producing switches compatible with the RAFI RS family and Siemens STB, the keycaps of which they used for their custom keyboards.<ref name="award" />, which seem to match also a cross-shaped keycaps mount.<ref name="production" /> In 1991 they introduced the "saskey" line of aluminium keyboards<ref>(Wayback Machine) Sasse — Produktprogramm saskey</ref> that opened the medical engineering market to them, where currently lies their focus.
