Omron vase spring is a single spring over membrane switch. It is covered in US patent 4733036 filed in 1986, with a priority date of 1984. The patent primarily covers semi-discrete modules mounted in a plate above a membrane assembly, with the vase spring as an alternative variant not depicted beyond the shape of the spring. The switches covered in the patent are specifically designed to be linear, and a force curve is given as a demonstration of this.
