KS-15 is a series of optoelectronic switches from Gateron, derived from their metal contact designs.

The Gateron website shows dark blue, red, black and brown variants.

Description[edit | edit source]

The switch is derived from Gateron's earlier Cherry MX clone types. The nub into which the slider descends has an aperture cut into either side, to allow light to pass through; this allows the existing metal contact slider design to be used as a light block.<ref name="imgur" /> The light source and light sensor are not part of the switch, and are instead placed onto the PCB below. As such, this is not a discrete switch design, and as the switch is not attached to the PCB, it is plate-mount only.

The switch is designed for use with SMD LEDs.
