KWD-601 is a derivative of the NTC KB-6151, which features Windows keys. Chicony also sold this keyboard as model KB-6011.<ref name="Chicony" />

The keycaps can be either pad printed<ref name="NEC" /> or double shot.<ref name="NEC2" /> The layout is close to the Asian-101 key layout, but uses 1.5 unit keys for control, alt, Windows and menu keys. The spacebar is only 4.5 units wide.
