Switches that utilize a printed circuit on one or more membranes for the contact mechanism, typically one (conductive actuator) or three (pressure actuator). While most membrane keyboards use a rubber dome as the actuator and the return spring, many membrane switch types use a different method to bring the membrane sheets into contact. The terms "rubber dome" and "membrane" represent completely different concepts and must not be conflated.
