The '''NEC A-VX N8606''' is a full size Japanese keyboard made by [[Topre]] for [[NEC|NEC Corporation]]. Its layout is very similar to keyboards that came with the PC-98 series of computers that were popular in Japan during the 1980s and early 1990s. The manual that comes with the N8606 makes references to the NEC 'Express 5800' and 'PC-98NX' products, and lists compatibility with multiple 'Windows' Operating Systems. 

==Description==
The N8606 came in at least three known variants, two of which are known to have [[Topre Switches|Topre capacitive switches]]. The N8606-06 is a [[PS/2]] model, and the N8606-04 is [[USB]]. Other than the interface difference, they appear to have the same functions and appearance. Both boards come with two function guide cards which sit at the top of the keyboard and are held in place by a plastic door. There are two height-adjustable feet on the bottom and the enclosure is held shut with three screws along the bottom in addition to the standard snap-on clips.

According to the Instruction Manual, SW1 and SW2 do the following:
* SW1: Enable/Disable numpad
* SW2: Switch between English input and Kana

The keyboard also comes with a 'document table' (pictured below) which is intended as a makeshift table, probably for quick document edits. The document table leaves access open to the 'CTRL', 'SW1', 'SW2', 'B SKIP', and 'SHIFT' keys.
