The Sega HTR-2106 is a variant of the Alps SM-101 Alps buckling spring keyboard,<ref>Deskthority — The Sega HTR-2106 - Sega + IBM + Alps</ref> shipped with the Sega TeraDrive, an IBM PC–compatible system with an integrated Mega Drive console. The system was only released in Japan. It is only available in the Japanese keyboard format.

The Sega HTR-2106 consists of an IBM Model M-like assembly surrounded by a two part PBT case in dark gray. The casing consists of an upper and lower part held together by three philips screws underneath the cable gutters. It has a controller card with two ribbons with traces on it that go into the assembly of the keyboard.

The Assembly consists of:

• The Barrel plate, which houses springs with sliders on them that hold the keycaps on.
• The Membranes in between the keyboards, this is where the ribbons with traces connect to.
• A steel backplate covered in plastic rivets that hold the entire assembly together.

The controller sits in the bottom of the keyboard case much like some Model M controllers.
