Logos[edit | edit source]

  • "Boxed" logo:
    • Usage range includes 1967–1978 (see Other Vintage Electronic Manuals, GI at Bitsavers)
    • Sometimes only the central "GI" portion was used on components
    • In 1967 this was also seen with "GENERAL" above the "GI" and "INSTRUMENT" below, inside the outer box (per Bitsavers)
    • This is the logo found on Clare switches
  • "Serif" logo:
    • Confirmed in use in 1980
    • This logo is found as "GENERAL INSTRUMENT" in full in printed material (per Bitsavers) and as "GI" (as shown below) on components such as microchips and on General Instrument Series S950 switches
