Rack mount keyboards are input devices which are designed to be mounted into a server rack. The standard measure is 19" which restricts the size of those keyboards and leads to special layouts. They are usually integrated into a metal case, but are also available in a normal plastic case to be oput into a rack-drawer.

Over the last decade, these keyboards are more often used outside server racks, because of their small, space saving form factor.

Typical rack-mount keyboard (based on Cherry G80-0778) from the late 1980s.
