Summary[edit | edit source]

The Everex PER-00120-00 is an OEM branded NMB 4th Generation keyboard using NMB Hi-Tek 725 switches. Black, clicky, two eye switches for all keys except the spacebar, which uses a blue, click, two eye switch. Curiously, the black switches are a random mix of earlier small eye switches with the later large, stepped eye switches. The 101 key layout is based on the standard IBM Model M, but uses the Big-Ass Enter and 1u Backspace from the IBM 84 key AT keyboard.

Features[edit | edit source]

The 116920-001 has several features that differentiate it from most other 4th Generation NMB/Hi-Tek keyboards.

Dual PCBs[edit | edit source]

The main PCB holds the switch matrix while the smaller, controller PCB hold the control logic including the 8049 microcontroller and 74 series logic used to drive and multiplex the switch matrix.

NKRO[edit | edit source]

The switch matrix uses diodes to prevent ghosting and provide N-Key rollover.

Keycap and Case Color[edit | edit source]

The Everex branded keyboards use a case and keycap color scheme which differs that used on NMB branded keyboards.

Case Color[edit | edit source]

The case is a lighter, cream like color compared to the beige NMB color.

Keycap Color[edit | edit source]

The modifiers use the same light grey color as the alphas. This color is identical to the standard color used for alphas on other NMB keyboards. In addition, the Ctrl, Alt and Shift keys use red, blue and green legends respectively. The number keys of the keypad use a color which is much whiter than the standard alpha color. The following image shows a few sample keycaps from the Everex installed on a NMB RT-8255C+. The keys from the Everex are F12, Right Ctrl, Numpad 6. The F12 is the same color. The right Ctrl is lighter. The numpad 6 is whiter.
