TheBoard is the name of a series of keyboards that was introduced from 1986 on by the extinct German company Hohe Electronics GmbH, and the first known keyboard to feature LCD displays built into its key caps.

Description[edit | edit source]

The keyboards featured programmable matrix LCDs on some of their keys depending on the exact model, for example on the function keys<ref name="DT-Halvar" /> or additionally the alphanumeric and symbol keys and the numeric keypad as well.<ref name="DT-kbdfr" /> The LCD matrices of the keys and the scancode combinations that these keys spawned could be programmed using software running under MS-DOS.
