A wrist rest or palm rest is a raised block placed in front of a keyboard to raise your wrists up to the height of the keyboard. Wrist rests can be made out of a solid block of wood, of padded plastic or leather, or simply a flat sheet of moulded plastic that clips onto the keyboard. Flat moulded clip-on wrist rests are included as standard with some keyboards.

The top surface of a laptop surrounding the keyboard and trackpad is also referred to as the palm rest.
