The torsion spring appears to allow for overtravel. A patent for the switch was filed in 1972. A later patent was filed in 1974 which introduced a revision to the switch: the ends of the horizontal spring—used as a bridging electrical contact—were capped with conductive silicone rubber to provide for increased longevity. ==Keyboards== *Some [[Atari 800]] computers, used for the special keys on the right (not confirmed) ==Gallery== Pictures of the Stackpole discreet key switches. These are odd in that these switches are oblong so there is a short side and a long side. <gallery widths=250 heights=187> File:Stackpole_discreet_overhead_angled.JPG|Overhead angled view File:Stackpole_discreet_long_side.JPG|Long side with no spring or key cap File:Stackpole_discreet_short_side.JPG|Short side with no spring or key cap File:Stackpole_discreet_long_side_with_cap_and_spring.JPG|Long side with spring and key cap complete File:Stackpole_discreet_short_side_with_cap_and_spring.JPG|Short side with spring and key cap complete File:Stackpole_discreet_external_parts.JPG|External parts File:Stackpole_discreet_bottom_with_markings.JPG|Bottom with Stackpole markings </gallery> ==External links== *TechDose — [http://www.techdose.com/repairlog/Fixing-a-Stackpole-Momentary-Keyboard--Key-Pad-Switch/457/page1.html Fixing a Stackpole Momentary Keyboard / Key Pad Switch] Dated 2012-05-24.
