==Description== The key layout is largely standard ANSI or ISO depending on version. The [[function keys]] however are much smaller and flatter than the regular keys. Across the top are five equally flat [[media key]]s: play/pause, volume down, volume up and mute. A small calculator button is placed above the [[numeric keypad]], adjacent to the indicator lights. Caps lock is stepped on both the right and front sides. According to the technical datasheet for model 1576 (the datasheet currently provided by Microsoft), the normal keys are rated for 20 million cycles, and the media keys are are rated for 30,000 cycles. Currently the keyboard is listed in the datasheet as having three hotkeys—"Windows 8 Charms keys", a "Windows Start key", and "Calculator"—and these hotkeys are rated for 500,000 cycles. The calculator key appears to be the same as the media keys, and there is no obvious reason for the Windows keys to have a lower lifetime. No Charms keys appear to exist. The keyboard is currently depicted (as of 2018) on the Microsoft website with an [[Fn key]] replacing the right-hand [[Windows key]] and blue legends on F5-F8 (impossible to make out in their photos), while another version has keyboard shortcut modifiers as found on the [[Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 3000]]. The version depicted below has none of these extras; the design of this keyboard has changed with time. The flip-out feet are not rubber coated. The controller PCB in the example below is made by Express Electronics Ltd ([[UL File Number]] E157925). The PCB bears the [[Silitek]] logo and [[Lite-On]] name, and the keycap stem design and guide shaft design have a Silitek appearance.
