An ergonomic mouse is a mouse that has been designed in ways to avoid mouse-related discomfort and injuries from prolonged use, and/or to provide comfort for people with disabilities (that could have been cased by mouse-related injuries). All ergonomic mouse are more or less a vertical mouse or semi-vertical mouse, made to place the user's palm more vertically in order to reduce forearm/wrist pronation. Many of these have a raised indent for the thumb. Most vertical mice are for one hand only. Some models exist in both right-hand and left-hand variants. Some ergonomic mice are elongated to make the user move the mouse with a straight wrist. The term "ergonomic mouse" has also sometimes been used: * For other types of pointing devices that may be more ergonomic than a standard mouse, such as roller mice and certain trackballs. * To describe mice that are designed to merely fit one or the other hand more comfortably, not providing any medical advantage. In other words, just a mouse that is not ambidextrous. This use is more common for "gaming mice" and is universally shunned by human-computer interaction professional and users of ergonomic mice. ==See also== * :Category:Vertical mice ==External links== * Wikipedia—Ergonomic mice (section)
