Silent or silenced refers to a keyswitch or keyboard that makes less sound than some reference point. The term is false, as a totally silent keyboard is virtually impossible, and highly improbable if any degree of typing speed is to be attained. Marketing a plate mounted Cherry MX Brown keyboard as "silent" is disingenuous, as this arrangement generates far more noise than the logical reference point for a quiet keyboard, the scissor switch.
