A keyboard condom or membrane shield is a layer of a flexible polymer on top of a keyboard or in-between switches and keycaps used to protect the keyboard's innards against liquids and dirt.

They are often found in keyboards for police, medical or military applications.

Thicker keyboard condoms could negatively affect the key feel.
