QuietKey keyboards typically have "QuietKey" written to the right of the Dell logo. The term "QuietKey" is widely used for subsequent keyboards from Dell that are not branded "QuietKey"; with the universal adoption of rubber dome keyboards in offices, "QuietKey" is no longer a useful marketing term. It appears that some SK-1000RE and SK-1000REW production runs omitted "QuietKey" from the logo. The SK-1000RE model has an FCC ID of 1993 and no Windows keys, indicating that Dell ran both the QuietKey and AT101 series in parallel for several years. The SK-1000RE superseded the AT101R, which was a rubber dome version of the AT101; the QuietKey design is very similar to the Alps switch Dell SK-D100M keyboard that was made only in Japanese layout. The final action date for the FCC ID of the SK-1000RE is one month later than that of the AT101R. SK-1000REW used multiple FCC IDs, while SK-8000 appears not to have been assigned one. ==Models== *AT103R (Dell p/n 47421, Silitek, FCC ID GYUR11SK) — appears to be the same as Dell AT101R but with QuietKey branding on the rear and a replacement Dell part number and FCC ID; not to be mistaken for non-QuietKey AT103 which has Alps switches *RT7D5JTW (Dell p/n 0463CD, NMB), sold in black as well as beige. Discrete domes. Made in Thailand before Dell's move to China, it is generally considered the highest-quality QuietKey variant. Has laser-engraved keycaps. *SK-1000RE (Silitek) — no Windows keys; likely to be discrete conductive domes *SK-1000REW (Silitek) — Windows keys; either discrete conductive domes, or rubber sheet of unknown dome type. Single Alps-mount slider used with spacebar. UV-printed keycaps. *SK-8000 (Silitek) — rubber sheet of pressure domes. Shares case with SK-1000REW but the matrix layout has been changed. Single Alps-mount slider also used with spacebar. Laser-engraved keycaps. ===AT103R=== <gallery widths=250 heights=187> File:Dell AT103R QuietKey -- top.jpg | Top File:Dell AT103R QuietKey -- rubber dome.jpg | Rubber dome File:Dell AT103R QuietKey -- rear label.jpg | Rear label with QuietKey branding File:Dell AT103R QuietKey -- cable.jpg | PS/2 cable </gallery> ==References== <references> </references>
